55196 Marchini (provisional designation: 2001 RM16) is an outer main-belt minor planet. It was discovered by Andrea Boattini and Luciano Tesi at the Pistoia Mountains Astronomical Observatory in San Marcello Pistoiese, Italy, on September 11, 2001. It is named after Alessandro Marchini, an Italian computer scientist and astronomer at the University of Siena.
